SALVADOR

Salvador is a place of extremes; you find extreme wealth, poverty, joy and sadness. In between all of that there
is tranquility and that was my subject. Even though it’s the third most populous city in Brazil it still maintains
an extraordinary calm that you would normally not get in large urban areas. Salvador is the second most
popular tourist spot in Brazil after Rio de Janeiro, and it’s a city that draws you in almost instantly. People come
to Salvador for a range of reasons, some for tourism, some for business, some come to enjoy the cultural aspects
like dance and music. I meet a lot of foreigners that found it very hard to leave and some decided not to. Then
there are people like me who are just trying to escape. These images are about everything and nothing. On the
one hand I am not trying to tell a specific story, the viewers are free to interpret these images, as they feel fit.
For me on the other hand they are about a relationship, a personal crossroad and a city. My focus was on the
everyday and the visceral colors of the city.
